DOTA 2 Thread! (Information, Guides, Ars Guilds, MMR Pwnage & Lots of Discussion)
First, in an attempt to distance themselves from The Great Video Game Crash of , Nintendo of America ditched the traditional top-loading cartridge mechanism used by the NES’s Japanese counterpart, the Family Computer, for a “zero insertion force” slot: The cartridge is slid into the front of the system and then pressed down, similar to a VCR. Unfortunately, this mechanism was infamous for being unreliable and constantly causing the infamous “flashing screen of death”, as well as gradually bending the pins in the cartridge. It gets even worse today considering the system’s been long out of production and many functioning NESes are in fairly worn states today, with all official repair services for them having been discontinued a long time ago. On games with battery-backed saves, when you power the system off, you must hold down the reset button while shutting the system off, or else your saved changes will be discarded. Presumably common practice back in the system’s age, but nowadays, most players used to just turning the system off normally after saving their game may not know to do this or forget to do so. Two pins used for hardware expansion in the Famicom’s cartridge slot were removed from the cartridge slot of the NES, resulting in an inferior audiovisual game experience for some games compared to the Japanese version such as Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse and causing some games to just not get exports of any kind due to relying on cartridge-side expansion chips to run properly such as the Famicom adaptation of Gradius II. Even though the NES’s Japan-region counterpart, the Famicom, is known for being more durable and more developer-friendly than the NES, it does have one noticable design choice:

So I took a small break from writing over the weekend and spent most of it just playing pub games finding out what is it that normal players don’t easily learn about DotA. Well it hit me after playing a few games that most people that are new to the DotA scene have either, A Never played a game like it, or B Played League of Legends. Now before anyone starts in, no I have nothing wrong with League of Legends as a game, it’s fine.
What I’m saying is that anyone who has played the game before will realize the League of Legends map has vast differences that affect playing the game in comparison to DotA. A No elevation – Standing on the high ground on DotA is something league doesn’t have. If you’re standing on a higher elevation point then it’s possible that someone almost bumping your shoulder can’t see you simply because you’re on a high point in elevation.
This brings problems with people warding, and knowing where people are or could be at. B Being afraid of your jungle – In league of legends usually most team will have a jungler. This person of course comes around the map and occasionally ganks and all that fun stuff. However, most league players know that junglers will normally only ever come gank if you are over extended.
Which in league usually is explained as being past the river in the middle of the map with out proper wards. Which again in league only means having one ward in that river and you’re good to go. In DotA it’s not that simple though.

SHARE Although studying creativity is considered a legitimate scientific discipline nowadays, it is still a very young one. In the early s, a psychologist named J. Guilford was one of the first academic researchers who dared to conduct a study of creativity. He challenged research subjects to connect all nine dots using just four straight lines without lifting their pencils from the page. Today many people are familiar with this puzzle and its solution.
In the s, however, very few were even aware of its existence, even though it had been around for almost a century.

In order to have a better system reconnect and replay and spectate, does the game need a “new engine”, or is it otherwise impossible to make those systems significantly better? Heroes of the Storm uses a peer-to-peer networking architecture. This architecture offers a lot of benefits, but also makes certain things more difficult. Unfortunately, reconnect is one of those things. Having said that, it is not impossible to make improvements to the system. This again comes down to prioritization.
The same people who would work on improving the reconnect system are the same engineers working on matchmaking and ranked improvements. After looking at the reconnect stats, we decided that matchmaking and ranked system improvements would benefit far more players right now. Regarding the pause idea: We do have the ability to pause the game which we use for esports scenarios.
Players can choose to play as one of nine character classes in these teams, each with his own unique strengths, weaknesses, and weapons. In order to accomplish objectives efficiently, a balance of these classes is required due to how these strengths and weaknesses interact with each other in a team-based environment. Although the abilities of a number of classes have changed from earlier Team Fortress incarnations, the basic elements of each class have remained, that being one primary weapon, one secondary weapon, and one melee weapon.

“Battlefield V” isn’t without reasons to recommend it. But the impression that it leaves is a game that isn’t quite ready.
Not really sure why I did it but it was an interesting experiment nonetheless. Got the last one yesterday afternoon so went on an opening spree last night. Ended up getting 5 legendary skins and a legendary pile of gold. A couple of emotes and a highlight intro. Mostly voice lines and sprays though which I was fully expecting. I am a little surprised that I got so many legendary skins considering that previously it was at least 25 boxes between legendary skins for me.
It was a shame they weren’t really ones that I was after but I’ll certainly take them. The absolutely disgusting part though is how many duplicates I was getting already, and I’ve barely scratched the surface on what is available to unlock. One particular box contained all duplicates with many others containing two or three duplicates each.
